Solitaire for Tablet

Set up Klondike Solitaire for a comfortable tablet screen with large cards and simple touch controls.

Landscape vs. Portrait Orientation

Klondike Solitaire requires laying out seven distinct columns of cards. Because of this, holding your tablet in landscape orientation (horizontally) usually provides the optimal experience. It gives the game enough width to display all seven columns side-by-side at a comfortable, readable size.

However, if you prefer to hold your tablet in portrait mode (vertically)—perhaps when lying on the couch or reading—our game engine gracefully adapts. Instead of shrinking the cards to microscopic sizes to fit the narrow screen, Large Solitaire maintains a jumbo card size and enables horizontal scrolling. You can easily swipe left and right to navigate the tableau while keeping your eyes relaxed.

Save to Your Home Screen

Did you know you don't have to open your browser and type our address every time? Large Solitaire is built with modern web app technology, meaning you can install it directly to your iPad or Android home screen for instant, full-screen access.

  • On iPad (Safari): Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up), scroll down, and select "Add to Home Screen".
  • On Android (Chrome): Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner and select "Add to Home screen" or "Install app".

Once saved, it will open just like a native app, completely removing the browser address bar and giving you maximum screen space for the cards!

Recommended tablet settings

  • Use Jumbo cards on smaller tablets.
  • Use Giant cards on larger iPads and 2-in-1 laptops.
  • Turn on High Contrast when playing in bright rooms.
  • Use Left hand layout if the controls are easier on that side.

Touch-first play

If you've ever tried playing PC Solitaire games on a tablet, you know how frustrating dragging and dropping can be. Sometimes the card drops too early, or your finger covers the card entirely so you can't see where it's going.

We designed our controls to be Touch-First. You do not need to use precise drag-and-drop gestures. Simply tap the card you want to move, and then tap the target column. It's faster, more accurate, and much gentler on your hands. And if you make a mistake, our Undo button is always ready.
